Mumbai, formerly called Bombay, is the capital of state Maharashtra. Mumbai is the economical capital of India and one of the richest cities in India. Mumbai, the most populous city in India, is the second most populous city in the world, with a population of approximately 16 million. Along with the neighbouring urban areas, including the cities of Navi Mumbai and Thane, it is one of the most populous urban regions in the world. Mumbai lies on the west coast of India and has a deep natural harbour.

Mumbai was under the control of Portuguese and later under the control of British East India Company. British East India Company reshaped Mumbai into a significant trading town in their time. Mumbai played as a base for the Indian Independence movements in the early 20th century.

Climate

The period between :

October – February, most pleasant time with blue sky and cool breeze and the best time to visit mumbai.

March – June, temperature increases gradually in this period and humidity reaches saturation point.

June – September, time for rains and getting drenched.

Being in the tropical zone and near the Arabian Sea, does not experience distinct seasons, but the climate can be classified as tropical climate.
